CLUSTAL X results of Multiple Sequence Alignment

The MSA (Figures ? & ?) displays several regions of high conservation amongst bacteria, archaea and eukaryotes. Figure ? shows that the NKxD motif is N-termainal of the Walker A motif and is conserved across the three kingdoms. It can also be seen in Figure ? that the Walker A and Walker B motifs are conserved, along with a conserved Threonine in-between the latter two motifs.

Figure ?: Clustal X MSA showing conservation of N-terminal NKxD motif. Note the conservation across bacteria (blue), archaea (red) and eukaryotes (green).

Figure ?: From left to right (N-terminal to C-terminal), Walker A motif (consensus GxxxxGK[ST]), conserved Threonine in-between Walker A and Walker B, and the Walker B motif (consensus DxPG). Note the conservation across bacteria (blue), archaea (red) and eukaryotes (green). NKxD and Walker B motifs specify utilisation of GTP. Circular permutation of NKxD to N-terminus characteristic of GTPases of the Ylqf/YawG family. Suspected functional role in ribosomal assembly (Leipe, D. et. al. 2002).
